General Safety Gait Belt

  • Patient belts or gait belts are used in rehabilitation; to help maintain end user’s mobility and are also used in situations where an end user could be at risk of a fall such as when using a pivot or turning disc. Often used in combination with other transfer accessories these belts allow caregivers to ‘grab’ the belt rather than clothing, arms or body of a patient in the event of a fall and gently lower to the ground in a controlled way.Using a Mini-Patient Belt allows an end user to ambulate under their own momentum but allows the caregiver to assist if they become unstable by moving closer to the end user and lowering gently to the ground. It is imperative to follow fitting instructions and understand manual handling best practice advice for device use. The mini patient belt is a standard general gait belt used in rehabilitation and mobility activity.
